For the june 2011 global regents, in the thematic essay, is it ok to use 4 technological innnovations?

my thematic essay had 6 paragraphs (the four body paragraphs for each technology). also for the DBQ , should the essay be based entirely on the documents? if it cant, will using more than 5 documents make it even?
